I am very happy to announce that my time in DC has paid off. I have meeting with quite a few Senate Finance Committee members, Finance committee staff, and Senate party leadership - on both sides of the aisle. After meetings and much technical and non-technical followup work, the Senate Finance Committee sent me a draft bill exempting small and medium business from the Transition tax!!!
While the distance to go is clearly far, their is great sympathy for our cause on both sides of the aisle. In addition, there is talk about a possible tax bill or technical corrections bill getting through Congress this year, or in the lame duck session after the elections.
The key now is getting our bill in a format both sides can agree to, so that if a larger tax bill does go through Congress, our bill can be scored and added.
But for today, this is quite a significant accomplishment we should all enjoy.
